Car-Friendly Makeup Products!

I'm a pretty busy person. With school and homework, I'm often left with little time in the morning before school. All too often I find myself having to throw random products in my makeup bag to apply while I'm in the car. If you don't have to drive yourself to work or school, these are some products that would be helpful in easily getting on some makeup without too much hassle. If you do drive yourself, these products are still great for if you're on the go or in a rush and help you save a lot of time.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hour eyeshadows are a fairly new release to drugstores this season, and they have gotten a lot of hype. They are basically long wearing, cream-gel based eyeshadows. Today I used the shade #25 Bad to the Bronze, which is a metallic, frosty bronze color. It is perfect for putting on in the car because it goes on easily with your fingers (no brush needed) and can somehow create a dimensional eye-look with only one product.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour eyeshadow--Bad to the Bronze
I just pat it all over my lid with my finger and blend it up into my crease a little bit. It dries to a smooth finish, and doesn't budge for the whole day, even after 2 hours of sweaty track practice in 85 degree weather and splashing my face with water. It didn't fade much at all either, although it did crease a little bit.  $6, Target

Next is the Ecotools Kabuki brush. This brush is very convenient for the application of powder, as it is dense and soft, but small and compact enough that it would easily fit in a makeup bag.
In a pinch, it could even be used to apply powder bronzer or blush. I got this in a brush set, so I don't think it's available for individual purchase, although the whole set is great quality. I do know that Ecotools makes a retractable kabuki brush which is similar to this one.
$12 for 5 piece brush set, Target

There's nothing special about L'oreal Voluminous mascara that makes it especially travel friendly. However, I appreciate the fact that it builds volume and darkness quickly with only a few coats. This can be important if you're trying to apply mascara in the car--less working with the brush means the lower the likelihood of poking your eye!
$5, Target

Next  is Benefit Posietint and High Beam. Posietint is a poppy pink colored lip and cheek stain. It's multi-use function is perfect for applying makeup in a rush. Just apply a little to cheeks and blend it in, also no brush needed. It also adds a gorgeous pop of long lasting color to lips.  High beam is a pearly highlighter that can be used to highlight highpoints of the face such as the cheekbones, bridge of nose and cupid's bow. It can also be used as an eyeshadow highlight.
Full size: High Beam $26, Posietint $29, Sephora

Small Collective Haul! 3/19/12

I haven't been buying any makeup since around February 20 when I started Project 10 Pan. Project 10 Pan is basically a challenge in which one refrains from buying makeup or unnecessary beauty products until she has hit pan on or used up 10 items from the start of the challenge. I am still completing Project 10 Pan, and so I can't buy any makeup. However, there are a few sneaky exceptions to the rules of Project 10 Pan--you can buy products that are staples--i.e., foundation, concealer, powder, lip balm, or mascara. Also, you can receive makeup from others.
And so we come to this haul. I only have two makeup items, so I threw in a few other random things that I thought you guys might enjoy.

First of all, I received the Revlon Colorburst lip gloss in peony from my mom. It's a peachy-pink color with gold shimmer that has been compared to the infamous Nars lip gloss in Orgasm. Along with a few photos, I have my initial thoughts of the product.
Roughly $6-$8, Target.
I apologize for the bad lighting in the following picture:

As you can tell, it has a slightly curved doe-foot applicator and traditional lip gloss wand.

It is reasonably pigmented and gives off pretty nice shine, although the staying power isn't too great.

I wasn't planning on doing a full-blow review on this gloss, but if you would like one, feel free to leave a comment.

Next, after deciding I needed a new lip balm that had SPF in it, I picked up the Maybelline Baby lips lip balm in peach kiss, which is a sheer nude-ish coral shade with a little bit of sheen. It's quite moisturizing.
$3 ish, Walmart

Today, I picked up this Brita water bottle that has a built in filter so that water can be filtered as you drink. I drink a lot of water during the day, but the water fountain water at my school is absolutely disgusting.
$8.88, Meijer (don't you love how I remember the exact price?)

It comes with a filter that lasts for up to 40 gallons or two months, and of course I got some back-up filters for later.
$6.40 ish, Meijer

Finally, I picked up the One Direction CD, Up All Night. If you aren't familiar with One Direction, they are a British-based "boy band" that was put together by Simon Cowell after they competed on the X-Factor. I really enjoy their music, and it doesn't hurt that they're adorable.
$12.99, Target

How to rock a cat-eye look!

Some people are always too shy and scared to wear a cat eye to school, work, or etc. A cat eye is perfect for a classy night if you're out with your friends, going out to dinner, or a party, but it can also be perfect during the day on a regular basis. I created this look to show how to make a simple cat eye that is not too over dramatic yet perfect for the day.
The eyeliner that I used can also be purchased at a drugstore! There is absolutely no need for an expensive or high quality eyeliner. I used the Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner in the color blackest black.

How to get the look!
First, line your top lash line as you normally do. You want this line to be fairly thick. Then, wing the eyeliner out a little, extending the shape of your eye. There might be a gap between your eye and the of the winged line; to fix this, draw a small line connecting the outer edge of the winged eye to the very end of your lash line. You can now fill in the middle for a solid, think black line.

Makeup used for eye shadow:

  • Aerie color radiant eye shadow palette with chamomile and aloe
  • Lancome color design eye shadown in Mannequin
  • Butternut by elf

Give this cat eye a try the next time you go to school or work! I hope you enjoyed!
